Bio: Debra Johnson’s love affair with Iyengar yoga started nearly 20 years ago and has only continued to grow and evolve in equilibrium with her practice. Beginning her journey in Chicago, IL, she went on to apprentice with such esteemed Iyengar teachers like Gabriel Halpern at Yoga Circle and Lois Steinberg in Urbana, IL. In the years since she began, she has gained an Intermediate Junior Certificate, became the director and owner of Yoga Vidya, and has attended the trainings of many esteemed senior Iyengar teachers.

She has studied amongst the Iyengar family at the Iyengar Institute on six different occasions in Pune, India beginning in 2004. In the last two years alone, she has studied at the institute in India for a total of eight months, an experience she attributes to bringing her enlightenment and education like she has never known.

Debra looks forward to seeing where Iyengar yoga takes her in her journey of spirituality, physical therapy and soulful healing.

Five Element Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the world’s oldest continuously practiced health systems, dating back as many as 5,000 years. Today millions of people in the US – adults, infants, & children alike – receive acupuncture treatments to ease pain and address both acute and chronic physical, emotional and psychological conditions.

Ch'i, sometimes translated as Life Force, it is the subtle energy that an acupuncturist works with using needles and moxa - a dried healing herb.

Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile, single use needles into specific sites (acupuncture points) along the body's meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of Ch’i through the individual.
